Sourced from the fertile lands of India and processed with state-of-the-art technology, our turmeric powder is meticulously crafted to meet the stringent demands of international buyers.

By Curcumin Content

This is the most critical factor for export, as different industries require different levels of curcumin.

  • High Curcumin Turmeric Powder: These varieties are highly sought after for pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, and cosmetic applications where a high concentration of the active ingredient is essential.
    • Lakadong Turmeric: Grown in Meghalaya, this variety is famous for having one of the highest curcumin contents in the world, often ranging from 7% to 9% or even higher. It is a premium product.
    • Alleppey Finger: Originating from Kerala, this variety is known for its deep orange color and high curcumin content, typically between 5% and 6%. It’s widely used for both culinary purposes and curcumin extraction.
    • Prabha and Prathibha: These are high-yielding varieties developed by the Indian Institute of Spices Research (IISR), with curcumin contents of around 6.5% to 7.3%.
  • Mid-Range Curcumin Turmeric Powder: This is the most common type for general culinary use, where a balance of color, aroma, and flavor is desired.
    • Erode Turmeric: From Tamil Nadu, this variety has a bright yellow color and a curcumin content of 3.5% to 5.0%. It’s a popular choice for curry powders and general cooking.
    • Salem Turmeric: Also from Tamil Nadu, this variety is prized for its excellent color and aroma, with a curcumin content between 4.0% and 5.5%.
    • Rajapuri and Sangli Turmeric: Both from Maharashtra, these varieties are well-regarded for their rich flavor and high medicinal value, with curcumin content typically around 2.5% to 4%.

2. By Geographical Origin and Variety

  • The soil and climatic conditions of a region significantly influence the characteristics of the turmeric. Many varieties are named after the regions where they are cultivated.
  • Alleppey Finger: From Kerala, known for its deep color and high curcumin.
  • Erode Turmeric: From Tamil Nadu, famous for its bright yellow color and strong aroma.
  • Salem Turmeric: From Tamil Nadu, known for its uniform color and high yield.
  • Rajapuri and Sangli Turmeric: From Maharashtra, popular for their bold rhizomes and good flavor.
  • Nizamabad Bulb: From Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, a common commercial variety.
  • Lakadong Turmeric: From Meghalaya, a specialty variety known for its extremely high curcumin.

3. By Processing and Certification

  • Organic Turmeric Powder: This type is grown without the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, or GMOs. It is certified by national and international organic standards, such as USDA Organic, EU Organic, or India Organic. Demand for organic turmeric is rapidly growing globally.
  • Conventional Turmeric Powder: Grown using conventional farming methods. While still of high quality, it may not carry the organic certification.
  • Sterilized Turmeric Powder: For markets with very strict microbiological standards (like the EU and USA), turmeric powder is often sterilized to reduce microbial load. This process can be done using steam or other approved methods.
